CANDIDATE FORUMS

The Bloomington League of Women Voters hosts candidate forums where members of the public can ask the candidates for local and state offices questions that are important to the voters. Candidate forums are held in September and October of election years.

Voters attending the forum have two opportunities to submit questions to the candidates.

  1. Written questions are accepted during the forum.

  2. Before the forum, voters can submit questions via email to the Bloomington league email address lwvbloomington@lwvmn.org. The identity of those who submit questions will remain confidential.

All questions are screened by a League committee to ensure that the questions are applicable to all candidates. Candidates do not receive the questions in advance of the forum, and all questions remain the property of the League of Women Voters Bloomington.

Forums are held for the following local positions when they are on the ballot:

  • Bloomington mayor

  • Bloomington City Council members

  • Bloomington School Board members

Forums are held for the following state positions when they are on the ballot:

  • State Senate District 50

  • Hennepin County Commissioner
