Introducing “That Ain’t How It’s Supposed to Work!”

Welcome to “That Ain’t How It’s Supposed to Work!” — a weekly series from the League of Women Voters of Bloomington, MN. Each Monday, we’ll shine a light on moments when our leaders have tried to bend, break, or bypass the rules of our democracy. More importantly, we’ll break down what the law and the Constitution actually say, and show how things are supposed to work when our government is running the way the founders-and the American people-intended. Because democracy only thrives when we all know the rules of the game and hold our leaders accountable for playing fair.

Our first blog post—focusing on Trump’s executive order that attempted to end birthright citizenship and change the 14th Amendment—will be posted on Monday, May 12. Our second post on May 19 and will examine Trump’s executive order defunding PBS and NPR. We’ll keep up the posts and explain how it supposed to be as long as we’ve got unlawful and unconstitutional actions to write about!
